Reiki

What is Usui Reiki?
It is the traditional System of Reiki, developed by Dr Micao Usui,in 1920.

What is Karuna© Reiki?
It is the name given to the system developed by William Rand and other Reiki therapists, in 1995.
It evolved from Usui and Tibetan Reiki.

How is Reiki applied?
It is a safe, gentle non-intrusive healing technique whereby Reiki (spiritual energy), flows through the practitioner's hands. These are placed lightly and held still, for some minutes, in specific positions on the recipient's body. However, the practitioner may use a non-touching technique, whereby the hands are held a few centimeters away from the recipient's body for some or all of the positions.

There is no pressure, manipulation or massage involved.

It can also be done at distance, without the presence of the client. In that situation, the Universal Life Energy is sent, by thought, to people who require healing, but are unable to travel to receive healing in person.

Does it involve any religious belief?
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must trust in order to receive it. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Besides being a therapy, Reiki is a spiritual discipline or path and many people find that using Reiki puts them in touch with the full experience of their own religion so that it ceases to be only an intellectual concept.

Do you need some preparation before the session?
Who receive Reiki should not be under the influence of any psycho-toxic, including strong coffee, alcohol and cigarettes. The drug decreases the effect of treatment.

Alcohol consumption should be suspended 8 hours before Reiki and 30 to 90 minutes when referred to strong coffee, black tea and cigarettes. Please note that this does not mean that the Reiki will be ineffective or cause harm if not followed this suggestion.

What can be expected during a Reiki session?
Before the first treatment commence, it is necessary to obtain a history of the client. After that, you will be asked to lay down on
a massage table and to remove or loosen any tight item of your garment (shoes, belt, watch).
The session will last for one to one and a half hour depending of the needs of the individual.

What can be experienced after the treatment?
During the session, you may feel warmth or tingling in the area being treated, even when a non-touching approach is being used.
After the session, for two to three days, you may experience light flu-like symptoms (runny nose, cough) or diarrhoea. They are expressions of the cleansing process taking place and the symptoms are self limiting.

What benefits can Reiki bring?
Immediately, after the treatment it's very common to experience a state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well-being. This is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment, although emotional release can also occur.

As the Reiki treatment stimulates the body's natural healing processes, instantaneous "cures" of specific health problems are not normally observed. The success of treatment is presented as a gradual and steady movement toward health and vitality in
patients' daily lives.
A series of three or more treatments is usually recommended if a chronic condition is being addressed. The interval between such treatments is typically in the range of one to four weeks

If you are not ill, the treatment will help you to be fit and make the best of your potential. If you have regular treatments one to three times a week you will soon notice a steady increase in:
Vitality
Creativity
Sensitivity and intuition
Strength
Endurance
Inner peace and
Joy in life

Reiki is not a replacement for medical treatments of any kind, but can be used as a complementary therapy. It adds to and enhances the health care the patient receives in a hospital or from other health care providers.

Is there any risk, contraindication or side effect involved?
Reiki is absolutely safe. It does not hurt or cause any harm.
It can be applied to any person regardless of any medical problem.

Therapeutic Counselling

It is a process based primarily on spoken communication. Takes place between the consultant and therapist, within a structured framework .From a compassionate and empathetic position, the therapist works one to one with the client in a quiet environment free from interruptions. In certain circumstances, when the consultant is located at a distance and cannot access the same treatment in their place of residence, it is possible to carry out this work by phone or on line.

The process involves focusing on the problems that are causing unhappiness, difficult personality traits, or problems at work or in relationships. This makes possible to find underlying emotions and or ideas or patterns that perpetuate the client's suffering.
Exploring and working with them opens the chance to overcome problems and lead a more satisfying life. Similarly, to see the situation with more clarity, analyse the options and tidy up scenes that are confusing and unclear.

Therapeutic counseling often include techniques to increase awareness and the capacity for self-observation, change behavior and develop insight and empathy. A desired result enable other choices of thought, feeling or action; to increase well being and to better manage subjective discomfort or distress.
